Лихтенштейн / Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein first appeared at the 1936 Winter Olympic Games and then later that year at the Berlin Olympic Games, represented by a team of six in athletics, cycling and shooting.

Their only medals have come at the Winter Olympic Games. Alpine skier Hanni WENZEL remains their most successful competitor. She won two gold medals at the Lake Placid 1980 Winter Olympic Games and has four medals in total.

The last time the Olympic Games were held in London in 1948, Liechtenstein entered only two decathletes.

Multi-eventers have performed well. At the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games, decathlete Alois BUCHEL finished 14th.

At the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games, Liechtenstein fielded their biggest Olympic team to date, nine men and three women competing in five sports.

At the Beijing 2008 Games, Liechtenstein were represented by a marathon runner and an air rifle shooter.
